I believe this question does allow a good amount of research to provide a lengthy paper yet couldn't the answer be that they wanted a short leash on the Americans like the Irish. But this could still result in a research comparing the abuse to the Irish and Americans

ReplyDeleteI think that this question is pretty broad. It opens up a lot of avenues because they (the Brits)had colonies in India, Africa and the Americas. A question to consider...were they being unfair? Who to? Was the system set up after the Brits left totally unique? Revolutionary? I have a GREAT book for you. Howard Zinn's People's History of America will help
